4. Settings of pen

(1) Duplicate G pen
(2) Change the shape of a brush tip
(3) Adjust parameters

Proceed to set pen for inking.

(1) Duplicate G pen

Right-click “G pen” in the [Sub Tool] palette and select “Duplicate sub tool”.

The [Duplicate sub tool] dialogue will appear.

Enter the name for sub tool and click the “OK” button.

The sub tool is duplicated.

 POINT  

With a sub tool, you can changes tool icon and the color of icon's background.

You can proceed settings of icon by selecting [Settings of sub tool], [Duplicate sub tool] and [Create custom sub tool] in the palette menu of [Sub Tool].

  1. 1:The tool icon set in the sub tool.
  2. 2:Choose the tool icon from the list.
  3. 3:If checking [Background color of icon], the background color of icon becomes effective.
  4. 4:If checking [Background color of icon], you can choose the background color.

The background color of icon only appears when the icon of sub tool is displayed in the [Tool] or [Sub Tool] palette.

(2) Change the shape of a brush tip

Select the duplicated sub tool and press the [Sub Tool detail] button in the [Tool Property] palette.

Click “Material” from “Brush shape” → “Brush tip” (1), and click “Click here and add tip shape” (2) or “Add brush tip shape”(3).

The [Select brush tip shape] dialogue is displayed. Select “Droplet 3” and click the [OK] button.

The shape of a brush tip has been changed.

Register the shape of a brush tip as material

You can register an image for the shape of a brush tip and use it as the shape of a tip of a drawing tool.

Select the [Layer] menu → [New Layer] → [Raster Layer] and create a rater layer.

Draw an image which you want to register as the shape of a tip on the layer and select it. If you don't select it, all images drawn on the layer will be registered.

Select the [Edit] menu → [Register Image as Material] or the menu in the [Material] palette → [Register Image as Material], and display the [Material property] dialogue.

Check “the shape of a brush tip”, set “Material name”, “Location to save material” and “Search tag” and click the [OK] button.
Settings such as “Paste operation” or “Specify overlay” don't matter for the shape of a tip of a drawing tool.

You can use the registered image for the shape of a tip.

Color to be drawn with the changed shape of a brush tip

There will be differences in drawing colors for an image to be registered for the shape of a tip depending on “expression color” of a described raster layer.

  1. In the case of the material of the shape of a tip which expression color is “monochrome”.

Draw with any color.

  1. In the case of the material of the shape of a tip which expression color is “full color”.

Draw in the color of the shape of a tip whichever color is selected for drawing.

When the [Sub Tool Detail] palette → [Ink] → [Mix ground color] is checked, it is drawn with a drawing color.

On a vector layer, [Mix ground color] does not become effective, so it is drawn in a color of the shape of a tip even when [Mix ground color] is checked.

  1. In the case of the material of the shape of a tip which expression color is “grey”.

Draw with any color like the case of monochrome.
When the image of the shape of a tip uses black and white colors, it is drawn with both a drawing and a background color.

When a background color is selected, it is drawn only with a background color.

When the [Sub Tool Detail] palette → [Ink] → [Mix ground color] is checked, it is drawn with a drawing color.

On a vector layer, it is drawn with two colors even if [Mix ground color] is checked.

(3) Adjust a parameters

Adjust the parameter of a brush.

In the [Sub Tool Detail] palette → [Brush tip], set 80 to “Thickness”.

Click the [Direction Effect source settings] button (1) in “Direction” and click “Direction of pen” (2) and “Random: Degree of effect 100” (3) in [Direction Effect source settings].

Click [Ink], set 90 to “Opacity” and close the [Sub Tool Detail] palette.

It is similar to “Textured pen,” but the setting is for a pen with a rough touch, which contrast is not as strong as “Textured pen.”
