What’s New in Clip Studio Paint?

Version 1.9.5 includes the following updates.

Redesigned User Interface (EX/PRO/DEBUT)

  • The interface has been redesigned to improve visibility of text and icons. As well as improved balance between the background color and text color, the new interface also features new icons for better visibility and ease of use. You can change the color of the interface in Preferences.
  • When the dark interface is used, the thumbnails in the Material palette are easier to see. The background color of the material thumbnails will change depending on the interface color.

(iPad) Directly Import from & Save to the Files App1 (EX/PRO)

  • You can now set your Clip Studio Paint app to manage files through the Files app for iOS and iPadOS. You will now be able to share files across devices through the Files app.
Files saved in Clip Studio Paint will be stored in a “Clip Studio” folder in the “On My iPad” section.

    Open from the Files app

    Save to the Files app

  • You can now open files from and save to other cloud services through the Files app.
Note: We are aware of an issue with DropBox where files may get duplicated when repeatedly overwritten.
You need the latest iPadOS to open multi-page files stored in other cloud services. Multi-page files can currently only be opened from iCloud Drive.
Please copy files over when using a cloud service other than iCloud Drive. Click here for more details.
  • On iOS 12 and later, you can now view Clip Studio format images (.clip) and Clip Studio Paint files (.lip) as image thumbnails in the Files app as well as preview them with QuickLook.

(Windows/mac) New License Registration Process (EX/PRO/DEBUT)

When users open Clip Studio Paint for the first time to register a license, they will be prompted to login to a Clip Studio account to continue. Users who have already registered their license can continue to launch the program as usual.

1 About compatibility with the Files app
To use the Files app directly with Clip Studio Paint, your device needs to be running on iOS 12 or later. As the app has been updated in line with the current OS, we cannot guarantee that Clip Studio Paint for iPad Ver. 1.9.5 and later will work correctly on iOS 11 and earlier. Please ensure you are using iOS 12 or later on your iPad to use the latest version of Clip Studio Paint.
You will still be able to use Clip Studio Paint for iPad on devices that currently run on iOS 11.
