Clip Studio Paint Ver. 1.10.13 now available

The Clip Studio Paint EX/PRO/DEBUT Ver. 1.10.13 update for Windows was released on June 24. Clip Studio has also been updated to Ver. 1.10.13.

  • (macOS) On macOS 10.13, when importing Ver. 1.5 compatible 3D materials to the canvas, Clip Studio Paint would force-close in some cases.

  • When multiple pages are open at the same time in a multi-page document, the displayed page would not be saved when selecting [Next Page] or [Previous Page].
  • (Windows/macOS) Loading time took longer than usual when opening a page management file (.cmc) or opening a page from the page management window.

Major update to brush tools: Explore a wider range of expression!

  • Dual brush settings have been added to brush tools, allowing you to combine two types of brush strokes.
  • The default sub tool settings have been significantly revamped. In addition, 11 new default sub tools have been added. If updating from an older version, only the new sub tools will automatically be added when you update to Ver 1.10.10. Default sub-tools that have had their names and parameters changed can be added manually from the menu by following the steps here. (See notes)

  • A setting to change the target color has been added to the Color Jitter setting for brush tools. You can set whether the change in hue, saturation, and brightness applies to the main drawing color, the sub drawing color, or both.
  • Added Linked to brush size to the Spray effect setting for brush tools. When this setting is on, the particle size will adjust with the brush size.
  • Added Reduce pen pressure when drawing with finger/mouse at the start and end of brush strokes to Preferences > Tool. When using brush tools with your finger or mouse, you can now taper the end and beginning of brush strokes according to your speed.
  • Added Brush shape to the list of cursor shapes in Preferences > Cursor. This displays the shape of the brush tip as the cursor image when a brush tool is selected. It can be used together with a center dot or cross, like the Brush Size setting.
  • Added the Cursor details category to Preferences. This category includes settings for how the brush cursor changes according to pen input.

We will continue to improve brush features such as dual brush support and color jitter.

Note: If you reset the tools in Clip Studio Paint to default, the sub tools will change.
Default sub tools that have been removed or changed significantly in this update will be released on Clip Studio Assets as a set of prior default sub tools.

New Teamwork feature for working on multi-page projects in teams online (EX)

You can use the Teamwork feature to share multi-page projects with teams online. With this feature, you can assign separate pages to team members. The Teamwork feature can be used on PCs, smartphones, and tablets.

Improvement to 3D Binding Preview (EX)

  • You can use the 3D preview for binding on projects without a cover page and regardless of the page start number settings. The 3D preview can be accessed via File > Export multiple pages > 3D Preview for Binding.
  • Added Export cover page and back cover page to File > Export multiple pages > Export EPUB data dialog. This exports the cover page and back cover page to a file.
  • The cover and back cover are shown on the 3D preview in File > Export multiple pages > 3D Preview for Binding.
  • You can view the 3D preview open on the selected pages using File > Export multiple pages > 3D Preview for Binding.

Other Improvements and Changes

We have also made some other improvements, specification changes, and bug fixes based on feedback from Clip Studio Paint users.

  • Added Add sub tool to the Sub tool palette. You can use this button to download materials from Clip Studio ASSETS and instantly add them to the Sub tool palette.
  • History is now saved when you back up files to the Clip Studio cloud. You can select and download files from your history up to the last 30 days.
  • (Windows / macOS / iPad / Galaxy / Android / Chromebook) Added Lock palette position to Window > Fix the width of palette dock. This locks the position of the palette in the palette dock. Other palettes can be stacked in the palette dock. This feature can also be used on tablets and smartphones.

  • (Windows) The interface of dialogs for browsing folders has been changed to match the dialog for opening files.
  • (macOS) You can now import FBX files on macOS devices with Apple M1 chips.

  • When inputting text, if the text cursor goes beyond the range of the canvas, the canvas will scroll to follow the cursor position.
  • When setting the angle of a 3D material using the Object Launcher, 3D materials will no longer become extremely large compared to the width of the canvas. In addition, 3D materials inside frame border folders will now be shown within the frame border.
  • Changed how clipping planes auto-adjust on 3D layers.
  • Changed the design of the progress bar animation.

  • Adjusted the values for brush size, particle size, and gap when importing Photoshop brushes that use a circle tip.

  • When importing Photoshop brushes set as Scattering > Both Axes, the Spray deviation in the Sub Tool Detail palette will be set to 50.
  • When using the Object tool to select a vector line where the Ink > Blending mode was set to Erase or Erase (compare), the Change brush tip color option will be disabled.
