Version 5.1.0 includes the following new features.
Style has been added to Watercolor edge in the Advanced Tool Settings palette for brush tools. When set to Vivid, you can draw clear edges with high contrast.

When a 3D drawing figure and a 3D head model are set as a parent-child relationship, the head of the 3D drawing figure can be hidden and replaced with the 3D head model.
When a 3D drawing figure is selected, the Advanced Tool Settings palette > 3D drawing figure category now has a Show setting when the head is selected. When turned on, the head of the 3D drawing figure will be shown even when a parent-child relationship is set with a 3D head model.
You can now paint directly on 3D characters.
Follow camera has been added to the Advanced Tool Settings palette > Light Source category when a 3D layer is selected. When turned on, the directional light of the 3D layer will automatically track the camera direction, so that the brightness is maintained at any angle.
Directional light mode has been added to the Preferences dialog > 3D. You can set the default behavior of the directional light when creating a new 3D layer.
View settings have been added to the search box in the Material palette. In addition to keyword search, you can access settings for the appearance of the Material palette and search results. You can change the folder list and tag list to pop-up display to increase the space for viewing materials.
Search options have been added to the search box in the Material palette. You can narrow down your search by Material name, Material catalog name, and User tag.
When you launch Clip Studio Assets from Search for materials on ASSETS displayed at the bottom of the material list in the Material palette, the search criteria from the Material palette will now be applied.
You can now search material catalog names in the Material palette.
Lock as top pin has been added to the Material palette menu > Material folder. You can use this command to pin your most used folders to the top of the list, such as Favorites and Recently used. You can also use Lock as top pin from the context menu for the material folder list.
Display within folders has been added to the Material palette menu. When a material folder is selected, you can choose how to display the materials within its subfolders. If you select Subfolders and materials, you can hide materials that are within subfolders.
The app is now more responsive when sorting materials by material folder from the Material palette menu.
Reflect opacity has been added to the settings when Edge is selected from the Layer Properties palette > Border effect. When turned on, the inner edge of semi-transparent strokes will no longer be affected by the border effect, and the border edges are smoother.
You can now change the number of mesh points for Mesh Transformation in the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings palette even after moving a mesh point.
The bounding box that appears when multiple mesh points are selected in Mesh Transformation will now be aligned with the rotation of the mesh.
When exporting a timelapse, you can now choose a length of 120 secs, 180 secs, and 300 secs.
Added support for system-standard palm rejection to prevent unintended marks from your palm.
Prediction method has been added to Stroke preview in the Preferences dialog > Tool. You can now switch the prediction method for stroke previews.

When registering a body shape material for a 3D drawing figure, the head and hands will now be displayed even if a parent-child relationship is set with a 3D head model or 3D hand model.

Show canvas frame has been added to the Navigator palette menu. You can toggle whether to show the red canvas frame on the image preview.
Brush size and triangle and Brush shape and triangle have been added to the cursor types available in the Preferences dialog > Cursor.
Duplicate set has been added to the Quick Access palette menu.
Unnecessary color profiles are no longer exported to temporary files when importing Clip Studio format (.clip) or management (.cmc) files, reducing disk space consumption.
When creating a new file, the date is now added to the default file name.
When a canvas with an RGB color profile is saved in Clip Studio format (.clip), the color profile will now be reflected in standard OS thumbnail displays such as File Explorer or Finder.
You can now open a context menu from the image preview in the Sub View palette. You can use this to import images to the Sub View palette or delete imported images. Note that this is not available in Simple Mode.
(macOS / iPad / iPhone / Android) The warning message displayed when importing a file containing a Ver. 1.5 compatible 3D layer has been updated with suggested solutions.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) Select all has been added to the context menu of text fields in dialogs and palettes. You can select all entered text.
(Windows / macOS / iPad / Android) Redesigned the screen with options to launch as a free trial in Doodle Mode, shown after selecting Try for free.
(Windows / macOS) When using Smart Shape, the operation details now appear on the modifier key for Mode Switch in Companion Mode.
(iPad / Android) On tablets, improved the navigation from the Training and Tutorials screen to official videos and tutorials, making it easier to find the information you want.
(Windows) The library for importing FBX format files has been updated. Accordingly, Import settings for FBX files has been added to the Preferences dialog > 3D. If you set the Texture import settings to Ver. 5.0.0 and earlier, you can import FBX format files using the previous settings.

When registering a 3D hand model material, it will be saved with the wrist on, even if the wrist was set to hidden.
You can now rotate the hand model more naturally when the wrist of the 3D hand model is hidden.
The wrist display of a 3D hand model will now be maintained when a hand model material is applied to a 3D hand model that has a parent-child relationship with a 3D drawing figure.
Show wrist has been added to the Tool Settings and Advanced Tool Settings palette > Adjust parts when a 3D hand model is selected. You can now toggle whether to show the wrist without selecting the Wrist section as before.
The upper limit position for displaying the movement manipulator on a 3D layer has been adjusted.
Camera angles for “directly above” and “directly below” have been added to the default camera angle presets that can be selected from the Object Launcher on a 3D layer.
In the Advanced Tool Settings palette of the Object tool when a 3D layer is selected, the zoom direction when Mouse wheel is set to Change camera perspective has been changed to match the direction when set to Zoom camera in/out.
Search for materials on ASSETS at the top left of the Material palette has been moved to the command bar and renamed to Search for materials.
Scroll bars will now always appear when scrolling is required on screens related to license authentication at startup.
Rokkaku Daioh format files (extensions:.6kt, .6kh) can no longer be imported.
The order of filters in the Quick Effects dialog has changed.
Show all materials in folder that appears below the material list in the Material palette has been renamed to Clear search and tag filters.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) In Simple Mode, the display order of filters has changed. You can access these from Filter > Effect on tablets, or Quick Filters in the tool list on smartphones.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) The order of commands in the Simple Mode menu has changed.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) Close canvas in the Simple Mode menu has been renamed to New canvas. Note that if a page of a multi-page project is open, Close canvas will still appear as before.
(Windows / iPad) In the Animation menu > Timeline, Apply timesheet information to Toei Animation Digital Exposure Sheet and Import changes from Toei Animation Digital Exposure Sheet have been renamed to Apply current exposure sheet to digital exposure sheet and Load changes to digital exposure sheet.

Effects will now be applied correctly when you use Gaussian blur, Sharpen, or Extract lines from the Filter menu > Quick Effects > Apply to current layer after creating a selection area.
The position of the entire body will no longer rotate when you set a 3D drawing figure or 3D character as a child of another 3D object and run the Pose Scanner or Hand Scanner.
When selecting a partially hidden layer in the Layer palette, it will now correctly scroll into view. When Show layers in 2 panes is turned on, selecting a layer will no longer scroll the other pane.
Improved compatibility when importing Wavefront OBJ format files.
Multiple 3D materials will now be placed correctly even when dragged and dropped from the Material palette onto the canvas.
The Face Mixer thumbnail will now render correctly in the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings palette when a 3D head model is selected.
Attaching a 3D hand model to a 3D drawing figure will no longer change the position of 3D objects already attached to the 3D drawing figure's hands.
When running Smart Shape in edit mode, you can now move, rotate, zoom in, and zoom out the canvas by dragging with a modifier key and pen.
When running Smart Shape in edit mode, the center of rotation will no longer move even if you rotate by dragging on the stroke after moving the control point of the figure.
(iPhone / Android) In the Preferences dialog > Touch gestures > Palette settings, when Two-finger tap is set to Show/hide property/command bar, you can use a two-finger tap on the Tool Settings palette to hide the command bar and stroke preview, then tap with two fingers again to correctly redisplay the command bar and stroke preview. Note that this excludes tablets.
If you select multiple layers with different layer colors, turn on a layer color from Change layer color in the Layer palette, turn on Preview in the Color settings dialog, and then click Cancel, the layer colors of the selected layers will now revert to their original states.
Control points will no longer be created outside the curve when Continuous curve is selected from the Smart Shape Launcher while using Smart Shape.
The Smart Shape Launcher will now appear when you use Smart Shape on a layer mask of a 3D layer.
The position of the figure will no longer change when you modify the shape of the figure in Smart Shape edit mode.
Clip Studio Paint will no longer force quit if saving fails due to insufficient memory when saving a canvas containing a 3D layer. Instead, a message will guide you on what to do.
(Windows / macOS) Shortcut keys do not cease to function after dragging to move the Story Editor and then selecting an arbitrary canvas.

Text positions are less likely to shift when you make large deformations using Skew on multiple text boxes and then return the handles to their original positions.
When drawing with a brush tool where Ink > Blending mode is set to Normal and Watercolor edge > Darkness is set to a large value in the Advanced Tool Settings palette, the borders of the watercolor edge will no longer be drawn continuously.
When drawing with a brush tool where a partially transparent image is set with a texture under Texture and Watercolor edge is turned on in the Advanced Tool Settings palette, the borders of the watercolor edge will no longer be drawn continuously.
Using Switch using layer color while locked layers are included in the selection will no longer change the layer color of the selected layers.
Drawings will now be placed in the correct position if you use Create New from Clipboard after cutting or copying content that extends beyond the canvas.
When you use Create New from Clipboard after cutting or copying with a selection area that extends beyond the canvas, the created canvas will be the same size as the selection.
Gaps will no longer appear around the image when you register a small image as an image material, paste the material, and turn on Tiling in the Tool Settings palette.
Unintended edits to 3D objects will no longer occur after releasing the pen or mouse.
Improved rendering when painting on a 3D model with a brush where Dual brush is turned on in 2 - Brush shape in the Advanced Tool Settings palette and Mode is set to Subtract or Height (Linear).
You can now use Delete from the command bar when you open a Clip Studio format (.clip) file with a 3D object selected while a brush tool is selected in the Tool palette.
When Clip Studio Paint is in dark mode, the color of the hints shown in the Colorize dialog will no longer invert when you use the Edit menu > Colorize > Use more advanced settings.
An error message indicating that no texture is set will now appear when texture painting on a 3D model that has UV coordinates but no texture.
You can now rotate by dragging outside the handle frame when multiple light table layers are selected.
When dragging parts of a 3D drawing figure or 3D character to change its pose, it is now easier to return to within the movable range if you turn off Joint angle limit in the Tool Settings palette to pose it outside the limit, turn it back on, and then drag the part.
Some VRM format 3D characters will no longer distort around the joints when the pose is changed.
The neck twist has been improved when manipulating the line-of-sight animation controller of a 3D drawing figure or 3D character.
Modifier keys will now operate correctly when transforming a watermark image in the Watermark Settings dialog.
An error message will no longer appear when app settings are backed up successfully in Clip Studio.
The light table layer will now appear correctly when you undo or redo after transforming a light table layer or changing opacity/display color in the Animation cels palette.
Exporting a movie file, such as from the File menu > Export animation > Movie, is now more stable.
If Texture import settings is set to Check import settings each time in the Preferences dialog > 3D, a confirmation message will now appear when importing a 3D model compatible with photorealism to the Item Bank palette for the second time onwards.
Running an auto action that includes filters from the Filter menu while the Object tool is selected will no longer slow down the auto action.
The application will no longer stop responding when a process takes time, such as for Convert Layer.
Dragging near text boxes with the Object tool will no longer move the entire layer.
Dragging text previously selected with the Object tool will no longer result in only the currently selected text being moved.
Modifier keys will now remain active even after switching tools from a palette while holding down the modifier key.
You can now export PNG format files when certain color profiles are set to the canvas.
Clip Studio Paint will no longer force quit on certain devices when using a command from the Edit menu > Tonal Correction and changing the settings in the displayed dialog.
Large delays will no longer occur when moving or zooming on a canvas where certain CMYK color profiles were set in the New dialog.
Selecting a 3D layer with Display settings for editing set to Fast in the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings palette will no longer alter Rendering intent and Library to use in the Color profile preview.
Enabling Color profile preview will no longer affect the background color of icons on the command bar.
The behavior of the Edit menu > Shading Assist on locked layers without version compatibility is now more stable.
Parts of the drawing will no longer be missing when you undo twice after rapidly drawing multiple lines with a brush and holding to apply a Smart Shape.

After converting to a curve or continuous curve using Smart Shape, pen pressure is now applied more smoothly than before.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) In Simple Mode, you can now use the Move / Transform tool even if you use Cancel after placing a 3D material from the Material palette onto the canvas.
(Windows / macOS) Empty items will no longer appear under Filter when Menu commands is selected under Category of the Shortcut Settings dialog in environments where plug-in filters are installed.
(Windows / macOS) In multi-monitor setups, the preview in the Export preview dialog when using the File menu > Export (Single Layer) will now match the colors of the actually exported image.
(iPad / iPhone) It is now faster to copy layers.
(iPad / iPhone) It is now more stable to copy objects under insufficient memory conditions.

(Windows) Shortcut keys will no longer sometimes fail to work when a full-width input IME is active.

(Windows / macOS / iPad / Android) A button to show the Advanced Tool Settings palette has been added to the transformation launcher that appears when running commands under the Edit menu > Transform. (This does not apply to smartphone devices.)
When selecting vectors with the Object tool, clicking away from the line will no longer select it.
Text/Balloon under Selectable object in the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings palette for the Object tool has been split into Text and Balloon.
When drawing an elongated ellipse on a vector layer using Smart Shape, the ellipse shape will now be rendered smoother than before.
When using Mesh Transformation, you can now rotate the mesh when the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings > Drag mode is set to Select grid points.
You can now correctly import Photoshop brush files (.abr) into the Downloads tool group that contains no tools.
Drawing on a layer mask or a layer with Expression color set to Gray and the drawing color set only to black using a brush with low opacity and Ink > Blending mode set to something other than Normal or Background and 2 - Brush shape > Dual brush turned on in the Advanced Tool Settings palette will now draw with the same density as on other layers.
It is less likely for symmetrical lines not to link when moving vectors snapped to a symmetry ruler using the Object tool.
The drawing result will no longer be distorted when you draw snapped to a symmetry ruler using a brush where the Advanced Tool Settings palette > Anti-aliasing > Speed and Quality is set to something other than High quality (default).
Clip Studio Paint will no longer force quit if you switch applications while converting to a vector layer via the Layer menu > Convert Layer.
When you click the Exclude layers buttons in the Edit menu > Advanced Fill, the on/off state is now reflected immediately.

(Windows / macOS / iPad / Android) Fixed an issue where Clip Studio Paint would sometimes crash when closing a canvas after running an Auto Action containing Save and Copy and Paste operations for 3D layers while Save in background is turned on in the Preferences dialog.
(iPad / iPhone / Android) Materials now appear correctly in the Downloads list of the Material palette in Simple Mode, even if only materials not supported in Simple Mode have been downloaded.
(iPad / Android) Fixed an issue where the notification mark on the Clip Studio icon would sometimes not disappear on tablets. This has also been fixed for Simple Mode.
(Windows) Fixed an issue where docking a palette to the Palette dock would cause the app to force close.
(macOS) When Direction of pen or Pen tilt is selected in Angle Dynamics in the Tool Settings or Advanced Tool Settings palette, the shape of the stroke ending drawn on the canvas is now displayed correctly.
(iPhone) The header color is now displayed correctly when the Getting Started or New Feature/Release Notes screens are displayed from the Help menu.
(Android) Fixed an issue where only the menus would appear without any palettes or canvas when launching Clip Studio Paint after installing specific fonts.
(Android) Fixed an issue where color flickering and reduced saturation would occur throughout the application on some devices.
Hide all visible draft layers has been added to the Layer menu. Tap once to hides all visible draft layers. Tap again to restore the previous display state.
The conditions for the camera of a newly created 3D layer to align with the perspective ruler when dragging and dropping 3D materials onto the canvas have been changed. 3D materials will be placed along the perspective ruler when there is only one perspective ruler on the canvas and the 3D layer's camera can be aligned with the perspective.
The correct layer is now selected when performing Redo for the following operations:
Convert Layer
Divide frame border equally
Combine frames
Dividing a frame folder using the Divide frame folder tool
When Snap to special rulers is off and Snap to grid is on in the View menu > Snap, line adjustments caused by brush settings such as Post correction or Vector magnet will snap to the canvas grid even when a perspective ruler is displayed, as long as its grid is not displayed.
Dragging a control point while holding down the Shift key with the Control point tool now moves it horizontally, vertically, or diagonally at 45 degrees, even if snap settings are disabled.
When dragging a control point while holding down the Shift key with the Control point tool, releasing the Shift key and continuing to drag will now move the control point to the mouse cursor position.
When selecting a ruler with the Object tool, the process of turning on Scale in the Tool Settings palette, setting it to Equal division, and setting a value for Number of divisions is now recorded as a single operation in the History palette, similar to other items.
(macOS / iPad / iPhone) Perspective ruler grid intervals no longer change when moving files to different environments. The grid interval may differ from perspective rulers created in previous versions.
Batch export textures has been added to the Tool Settings palette and Advanced Tool Settings palette when a 3D layer is selected with the Object tool. You can export all textures of your own custom material or 3D model at once.
Embed ICC profile has been added to the Export settings dialog when exporting in PDF format from the File menu > Export multiple pages menu command. You can embed color profiles in PDFs. Also, you can now select CMYK color from Expression color. You can also export PDFs with embedded CMYK color profiles.
Changed the interface when selecting Only body pages in Page range of the Batch export dialog from the File menu > Export multiple pages > Batch export.
Camera operations in the All sides view palette are no longer registered in the History palette, even immediately after opening a file.
The display order of text in the Story Editor no longer changes from the last session when opening a canvas saved after performing certain operations.
Image sequences can now be exported correctly even when executing File menu > Export animation > Image sequence for canvases containing a "%" in the timeline name.
